Filmmaker Matthew Bardocz passion for filmmaking began in a funny way. A native of Columbus, Ohio, his interest in the power of film began while trying his best to emulate the classic Abrahams/Zucker comedies of the 70’s and 80’s with his friends and a super 8mm camera. His eighteen-year career in the motion picture business began when, at age fifteen, he made a job for himself by nagging a local cinematographer to let him carry around his equipment. After graduating from Ohio University in 1995, Matthew's lighting and camera career led him through Ohio and New York City to Los Angeles. Working professionally as a Gaffer and Best Boy Electrician for feature films, television, and commercials, he continued to direct and shoot short films and spec commercials on his own time to develop his skills as a filmmaker. In the winter of 2007, he finished production of his first medium format documentary “Off The Rocker”, a humorous yet poignant portrait of the senior side of the Las Vegas Strip. His hard work paid off as “Off The Rocker” recently won “Best of Nevada Feature” at the 2007 Las Vegas International Film Festival. |
